Empty Seats in Heaven
It’s a heartbreaking image—empty seats in Heaven. The idea that someone could miss eternity with Jesus simply because they were never invited to the table should stir something deep in us. In Luke 14:23 (NLT), Jesus tells us to go out into the highways and byways and compel people to come in, so that His house may be full. God’s desire is that Heaven be packed, overflowing with people who have encountered His love.
Why Empty Seats in Heaven Should Break Our Hearts
Empty seats in Heaven should move us to action. 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) says, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise…He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” That’s the heart of God—and it should be our heart too. We’re not just filling chairs in a church—we’re fighting for souls.
Inviting People Is a Kingdom Responsibility
Our mission is clear: reach the lost. Empty seats in Heaven are often the result of believers who remained silent. Romans 10:14 (NLT) challenges us: “How can they hear about him unless someone tells them?” Every invitation matters. Every conversation counts.
Everyone Deserves a Seat at God’s Table
Jesus made room for sinners, doubters, and skeptics. We sometimes need to be reminded that there are still people searching for hope, and we are the ones who can point them to the Savior. John 3:16 (NLT) makes it clear—God so loved the world. That includes the people we interact with every single day.
What Can You Do to Prevent Empty Seats in Heaven?
Start by praying for someone by name. Invite them to sit with you this Sunday. Share your story. Love people well. Trust God to do what only He can do. Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. Let’s make sure no seat is left empty.
